The seminar will be held in Kuopio, a beautiful city in eastern Finland surrounded by waters and varied landscapes. The most famous landmark of Kuopio is Puijo Tower, rising 225 meters above the surface of the adjacent Lake Kallavesi.

Connections by air to Kuopio are excellent, as there are 5-8 daily flights from Helsinki. Kuopio's Rissala airport is situated 17 km to the north from the downtown of Kuopio. The most convenient way for transportation between the Rissala airport and the downtown is to use taxi or airport buses (see the airport link).

There are 7 trains daily from Helsinki to Kuopio, the fastest train taking only five hours. Kuopio is situated by one of the arterial roads of the country, highway 5 leading from Helsinki to Lapland.

The evening program and supper takes place in Jätkänkämppä Lumberjacks’ Lodge which is situated in Rauhalahti resort area (ca. 5 km from the centre of Kuopio; see location in the map). Here you have a chance to enjoy traditional Finnish fare and to wash away the dust of the day in the biggest smoke sauna of the world (World Record: 103 persons from 47 countries all in the sauna at the same time!) and the waters of Lake Kallavesi. There are separate changing and washrooms for men and women and a shared steam room. Towels and sauna bench cloths are available for your convenience. If you are a shy person, you can bring your own bathing suit or use complimentary towels to cover yourself up. Jätkänkämppä also has a spacious veranda for cooling off. Swimming is possible through a hole in the ice in winter.
